The Brumby SS Polishing Compound is ideal in polishing applications on aluminium and aluminium alloys where a high-quality finish is desired.

For the best results, use the polishing compound with a Josco Loose Leaf Calico Buff.

Josco also has three other types of polishing compounds available in its range, in both standard and large sizes. They are all intended for use on surfaces without major blemishes, resulting in little metal removal and will achieve a bright result. Any small scratches that are produced by cutters can subsequently be removed with the use of a finishing compound.

It is important to recognise that different metals have varying characteristics which require the correct buff and compound to be used when working on your surface material. For best results, only apply a small amount of compound at a time. It is better to apply small amounts of compound frequently rather than overdressing the buff.

Directions for use:

  1. Most buffs have a tapered centre bore, and
maybe mounted on the left or right of your
    grinder using a tapered spindle.
  2. Select the correct buffs and compounds
for your job. Initial cutting can be done with a
fast-cut compound and either a stitched sisal
or a stitched rag buff followed by a polishing
compound and a loose-leaf buff. For best
results, never use different compounds on
the one buff – keep a separate buff for each
    compound.
  3. Apply the compound across the face of the
rotating buff for a few seconds, taking care
not to apply too much compound which will
overload the buff. It is far better to apply a little
compound more frequently than to overdress
    the buff.
  4. After applying the compound to the buff,
bring the workpiece into contact with the buff
and with light pressure, move back and forth
    across the job.
  5. After polishing, remove any compound
the residue left on the workpiece with mineral
turpentine or methylated spirits, or warm soapy
    water.
